Tandem Automotive came by my studio to pick up the Datsun. It is on its way to their shop where it will be stripped and rebuilt. I will get it back in early June and then painting will commence.

Met with Pablo Moreno, the owner of Tandem Automotive, who will be leading the mechanical part of the project. We met and discussed the logistics of the 1975 Datsun 280z build and plans to have the car running by the end of May.

This is a finished 1:24 scale maquete for WCD project. This project will be executed on a mid 70’s Datsun 280z. In the first concept, I had hoped to acquire a new Mustang, needless to say, that didn’t happen. Fortunately, Tandem Automotive donated the 280z shell that will be used instead. Along with the help of Tandem Automotive, we ill be installing a Chevy 350 V8 in the Datsun.This project will have three lives, one as performance, video, and installation. As the project evolves, I will post sketches, images of the car’s construction, and documentation of the painting progress.

This is a top view of the Chevy 350 V8 that will be swapped into the 1975 Datsun 280z donated by Tandem Automotive for WCD Project. The engine was purchased in Richardson, Texas at 1pm on Sunday April 21, 2013. It was transported back to Tandem Automotive located in Fort Worth. The engine will be taken apart for revision before installed in the Datsun.
